We are going three for three! You asked and we delivered... another Colour Play session for those of you that haven't been able to make it yet. 🎉🖌️🎨

We’ll be using squeegees, drips, swirls and splats to make bold, abstract prints inspired by the likes of Moglea, Lara Fernández and Sharece Studios. We’re not aiming for “perfect” – just playful experimentation and happy accidents! You’ll leave with a stack of weird and wonderful prints (and maybe some paint on your elbows too).
No skills needed – just bring your curiosity and your best “let’s see what happens” attitude. It’s also a fab excuse to hang out, have a laugh and get creatively messy with some new people!

☀️🎨 A little more info about all the creative mischief we’ll be getting up to at our End of Summer Art Club! 🎨 ☀️

We have two jam-packed days of playful, hands-on art activities planned - from painting with squeegees to making mosaics out of lasagna!

Day 1 (Thursday 28th August)

Morning session: Pop Art Portraits
We’ll be taking inspiration from Andy Warhol and other pop artists to create bold, expressive portraits. We’ll explore a range of fun printmaking techniques to create portraits of ourselves (and some famous faces) including relief printing, DIY stamps and our super speedy mini printer!

Afternoon session: Colour Chaos
A joyful, hands-on exploration of colour and abstract art! We’ll be experimenting with paint and squeegees, using splats, swipes and swirls to create vibrant compositions – then cutting and collaging them into playful new works of art.

Day 2 (Friday 29th August)

Morning session: Wild 3D Worlds
Perfect for young makers who love to build and create. In this nature-inspired sculpture session, we’ll explore the forms and textures of our favourite flora and fauna and use recycled materials and clay to construct wild creatures and imaginative environments.

Afternoon session: Playing With Food
Who says food is just for eating? We’ll be making lasagna-sheet mosaics, printing with fruit and veg, and experimenting with ingredients in weird and wonderful ways to create art filled with texture and pattern, inspired by makers like Orla Kiely.

We had so much fun creating these slot sculptures inspired by @studioroof ! The kids particularly enjoyed using paintsticks to add vivid colours and patterns to recycled cardboard – highly recommend these Little Brian ones as they have the vibrancy of paint and are great for layering but no brushes or washing up needed👌

Another fun project from our Sculpture Club at Charles Darwin Primary! Expressive masks inspired by the Dogon tribe from Mali 🎨 🎭 🇲🇱

This was meant to be a shorter one but the kids had so many ideas for extending it – LOVE it when they end up steering the project!! We started off with just cardboard and egg cartons but they asked me to bring in beads and wire - wasn’t sure why initially but then they started adding nose rings and all sorts of dangly elements! Lots of mess, colour and fun ❤️

Had such a lovely time at our first Saturday Art Club at Pete’s Park yesterday!! We had a great afternoon of scribble games, experimenting and printmaking! Lego printmaking is always a winner 🧱🎨❤️

I didn’t manage to get many pictures of all the amazing prints our makers created (they made LOADS!) but loved seeing them experiment independently with colour, pattern and layering - and even use each other’s ‘printing plates’ to create collaborative pieces!

Looking forward to next week’s session where we’ll be using cardboard to create and decorate sculptures inspired by our favourite creatures (real, mythical or imaginary!) Also just an excellent excuse to get my electric cardboard scissors out again… 🐈🦔🐢

Had such a lovely time at our first Saturday Art Club at Pete’s Park yesterday!! We had a great afternoon of scribble games, experimenting and printmaking! Lego printmaking is always a winner 🧱🎨❤️

I didn’t manage to get many pictures of all the amazing prints our makers created (they made LOADS!) but loved seeing them experiment independently with colour, pattern and layering - and even use each other’s ‘printing plates’ to create collaborative pieces!

Looking forward to next week’s session where we’ll be using cardboard to create and decorate sculptures inspired by our favourite creatures (real, mythical or imaginary!) Also just an excellent excuse to get my electric cardboard scissors out again… 🐈🦔🐢

Pizza boxes + spray paint + electric scissors = simple but fun process-driven art!
Last week at Sculpture club we took inspiration from Alex Brewer @hensethename to create freestanding abstract sculptures. No glue or tape involved, just carefully placed slots! Can’t wait to make more of these and combine them with pattern and colour.

Don’t have many pictures from this session as I was having too much fun making my own (and supervising the use of the Extremely Exciting Electric Scissors)!

Looking forward to next week’s session, where we will be combining wire with reclaimed beads, foam and other materials sourced from the amazing @scrapboxnorfolk !

Todays session was some brilliantly process based monoprints. Inspired by the awesome Joan Miró and our own dreams, we had some crazy ideas including walrus pursuits and bean oceans… 😝

We created some absurd animal relief prints today for Day 2 of our Easter Holiday Print Club - from Minecraft cows and space dogs to a marvellous “mer-cat” 🐮🐶🐱🧜‍♀️ All inspired by the amazing @_strangford!

We enjoyed exploring animals in art throughout history before focusing on the amazing prints of contemporary artist @_strangford / Jo Pearson (whose work our young makers agreed was the best of all!) We made our relief prints using styrofoam but watched videos of Strangford’s process and were amazed by the effort and time that goes into making woodcuts!
